This homemade icing recipe is a go-to recipe we use every single year! Use it to make icing for sugar cookies or for decorating goodies that call for icing. The colors are only limited by your imagination especially if you have a large pack of food coloring gels! Pick up these plastic squeeze bottles to make decorating less messy too! Often referred to as confectioners sugar or icing sugar, this will be the base of your icing (and the reason it’s nice and sweet). Working with one bowl at a time, stir in a few drops of gel paste. The meringue powder helps thicken and harden the icing more quickly than just time and dry air temperature. Cover each with plastic wrap pressed directly against the surface.
